We are delighted to announce that we have made it through to the National Lottery Awards Finals. 1300 project were nominated so for us to get this far we are absolutely thrilled! We are listed in the sports category. Who would have thought that our lovely senior citizens would be in this section! It just goes to show that there is a sport for everyone regardless of age, fitness or whether they have every done sport before.

We’d love to win! But to do that you have to vote for us.It’s the project with the most votes that wins. It’s as simple as that.

Free Tai Chi for Senior Citizens.

The Lottery funding for 2016 has now run out but we still run these wonderful classes so please join us.

Tuesday & Thursday 10-11am

As you may know we have been running free Tai Chi Sessions for Senior Citizen. The first course was funded by the National Lottery (see below).

We knew what we had to offer was very special but we were unsure how many people would be interested. We thought that if we got 15 – 20 people to come along that would be great. We have been overwhelmed by the response.

To date we have over 300 people registered with more people coming every week. The word of what we do is spreading and people are flocking in.

It’s proven so popular that we were recently interviewed by Sir Martin Lewis (the newscaster and journalist) for The Wireless – the radio station for Age Concern. What we teach we believe is very simple but has amazing health benefits. Improved balance, better breathing, increased blood circulation. People feel fitter and happy. Also the tea and biscuit time after the class is always a welcome chance to socialise and make new friends.

Our funding now has run out but we will keep the classes going again in January. We are currently setting up some fundraising events so hopefully we can keep this going for a long, long time.

Free Tai Chi course for Senior Citizens – Starting April 2016

Improve your health and meet some lovely people in the process. Come along. It’s FREE! April- June & September to November 2016

Tai Chi is a Chinese form of martial arts based exercise that involves slow, controlled and low-impact movements that can be easy for seniors–even those with limited movement.

According to many medical centres tai chi can help seniors feel steadier on their feet (reducing the risk of falls) as well as improving their hand eye coordination. It is like a moving mediation so it also helps to relax the mind and teaches you how to breath deeper and more effectively. Tai chi is great for seniors seeking to strengthen muscles, increase flexibility and get gentle aerobic exercise. Another benefit is all the lovely people you will meet! After each session we will be offering free tea and biscuits so you can socialise and get to know each other.

We will be running a FREE three month course starting on 5th April. This course is open to all Senior Citizens and Carers who feels they would benefit from these sessions.

Every Tuesday, Thursday 10am-11am followed by free tea, biscuits and the chance to have a chat! (11-12pm) Saturday 2.30-3.30pm again FREE tea, biscuits and chats till 4.30pm.

Sessions must be booked in advance.
