What is Yoga?

Yoga includes a series of postures (exercises) that involve deep breathing, body movement and position, meditations and relaxation. Hatha is the most popular style of Yoga with it’s emphasis on health, well-being and concentration. It was devised in India over 5000 years ago and today is practised by millions of people worldwide.

Hatha Yoga

The most famous aspect of Hatha Yoga is probably the postures or asanas which are used to strengthen, stretch, and tone the body as part of yogic practice. During a Hatha yoga session, the practitioner will move through a number of these poses,
holding them for varying amounts of time and working in a sequence to ensure that muscle groups are slowly warmed up and evenly worked. Many Hatha poses are quite demanding, requiring focus, strength, and agility.

Another important aspect of Hatha Yoga is pranayama or breath work. During a yoga session, practitioners are very mindful of their breath, and they may take breaks during the session to focus specifically on breathing. Control of the breath is said to be vital to the control of the body, and it also encourages an inward focus which can help to develop one's spirituality.

Yoga has proven a very effective way to blend exercise with relaxation techniques.

Our Classes

It doesn’t matter if you have never done Yoga before. The classes are suitable for everyone regardless of fitness or flexibility. You do what you can and you will soon find that your stretching and breathing naturally develop and increase. You can be assured that you will leave the class in a wonderful relaxed state of mind.

Our Teacher

One of the best things about our Yoga class is Fatima, our instructor. She has a wonderful ability to make you feel relaxed and calm whilst helping you to get the very best results. She guides you through each movement and breath in a gentle and
soothing way whilst leaving you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

What to wear

You do not need any particular clothing but it is recommended that you wear something comfortable and stretchy.
